Art For Your Wall
June 3rd, 2009Hanging in my bedroom I have anywhere between 50-100 prints, ranging from Polaroids to 8x10s to 24×36 inch photographs. Some of them I change around constantly. Some have been there since the day I moved in.
Taking photographs and printing them is easier than ever. Sometimes I go to the high-end photo labs, like Panda on Warren Avenue, and other times I take rolls of film to Walgreens because of the convenience. If you love photographs on your walls then there’s no shortage of opportunity to make prints.
And because the sun has come out in Seattle, bringing its optimism and general happiness all over the city, I thought I’d give a print to you for free.
Below are three photographs I have hanging behind me as I type. They each have meaning to me, as all three have their own stories as to where I shot them, what was going on that day, and why I love each individual one. But my reasons for liking them aren’t your reasons, and shouldn’t be. You bring yourself to art and draw meaning out of it as you see it. All art evokes emotion. Some more than others.
So here are the three prints. Leave a comment saying which is your favorite, and after a day or two I’ll put up a printable 8×10 file of the one that gets the most votes, like American Idol without Seacrest Out! You will be able to download that file and take it to a photo lab or Walgreens or wherever, and get it printed. Your only cost will be the printing fee, which will probably be between $5-$10. You get a free photograph and I get to share. Print one for yourself and one for your grandmother. Easy peasy.

Its a close race right now, I’ll go for #2. This is awesome.
How cool. #1 for me.
#2 the light, the shadow…the chair calls me – asking if i would sit a while and breathe and smell and be, as i remember.
i’m a huge fan of #3
Sad… no one’s voted for #3! Funny. Because it makes me feel so “uneasy,” I pick 3.

I’m going against the crowd, but I like No. 3.

Numero Dos. Por Favor. Por Favor. Por Favor. The first time you posted this photo a while back, I contemplated asking if I could buy a print from you. Very attached.
I know I already voted, but I feel the need to once again state the case for #2.
Although I love the concept of #3, I fear I would never be able to hang a print version up on my dorm wall. My buddies would just ridicule me over and over for having a picture of an almost naked dude falling from the sky. Something about dreams and the “truth coming out”. I don’ t know.
#1 !!! bc i personally love taking my own bike pictures…

are we allowed to vote twice? #2 please. i’m going to resort to groveling soon.
actually, i really just wanted to know if you would consider selling prints of the photographs that don’t win the vote.
Torn between 2 &3….Gonna’ go with #3, final decision.

#1, por favor.
How nice of your Joshua! I can’t decide between 2 or 3, so I just flipped a coin…
Looks like it’s a 3 for me! Thanks Longbrake, you’re such a kind soul

i love all of your empty chair photos.
to me this picture says, “go. live.”
I like #2 the best. I like the window and I feel like the chair is that last reminent of a table and chair set that saw many a conversation over dinner or breakfast, or late night cards and beer. It holds memory.
i like all three of them a lot…
but if i have to choose only one it would be #2…
#2
You bet your A I’m going to print that out. I was the biggest fan of #1, but I love #2 also.
Easy Peasy. Jester to yourself berries and creme!
