i really love Bansky’s outdoor stuff. I’d love to see some of it in person…
I think the difference is that with advertising you do what you do, and get paid. expectations are pretty clear, and so are the results. But I don’t really know that…b/c I’m not a designer. thats just my assumption.
Whereas in the modern art world, you can do what you do, BUT, most of the time people are doing what they THINK is expected of them. To be written about in an art publication is more important (esp. with all that art world jargon that no one understands except art/art history majors) - and then people forget the whole reason why they’re making art in the first place. It’s the whole “avant garde” thing.
Oh no.
I just typed art jargon. (sorry!)
anyways, this is a great quote. thanks for posting it!
i’ve never written this before, but:
WORD
What does Banksy think/wish the bright, creative, and ambitious young people should be doing instead of advertising?
I love me some banksy.
It would be nice for art to have a revival.
