I love Chicago. I love the skyline, the pizza, the freaking big jelly bean mirror of doom, the lake, et cetera. We spent all day in the city with my cousin Zach before we flew out of Midway. I have photographs to prove it.

We ate at Giordano’s Pizza, which pretty much puts you in a food coma of delight.
And I want to send out a big internet THANK YOU to Midway International Airport for always being willing, without frustration, to handcheck all of my flim. I’ve had the hardest time getting different airports to not send my film through the x-ray machine. They always try to give me a lesson about what ISO is and how safe their supervisors tell them the machines are for film and how little I know about film.
“Yes, I know it’s safe for film under ISO 800, but I just want to be safe. No. Yes, I understand. Yes yes, I’m sure. But this film is very important. But I just. No, please just let me finish and, no,…here’s my firstborn son, now please handcheck my film.”
But Midway, you go a step further. For this, I will always do my best to fly through you in Chicago.
GIORDANO’S? i’m so jealous right now. i love that place.
Yay! for Chicago style pizza!!
Chicago is a great city, I tried to route my last flight through there and it got canceled and I ended up in DFW, not the same.
Honestly I haven’t shot film in so long I had totally forgotten all the hoops I use to jump through to have them hand check my film. I use to have pre-paid mailers I would just mail the film to the lab prior to boarding the plane so as not to have to bother with it, but I stopped shooting film with Nikon’s first DSLR, but I know several who still do. Great shots by the way.
I live 5 hours from Chicago and only get to eat Giordano’s once a year. The last time was July, on a layover, before a flight to Portugal. Needless to say, I didn’t have to eat airline food after that meal.
giordanos is great… there is another one i had when i was in chicago equally as good…. malnotti’s. have you had their pizza?
also. mckenzie’s shirt is awesome. wondering where she got it! :)
er… Mackenzie, that is.
I hold a special place in my heart for Giordano’s.
wow. i have lens envy.
more airports need to be like that.
My little sister had all her film and her (nice) camera stolen (out of Dallas, not Chicago) - she wrote the airport and told them that if they would pretty please send her film back to her, she would forget she’d ever owned a camera. The film arrived in the mail a couple weeks later.
those are so fun, love.
I don’t know anything about photography, but that is a freaking huuuuge lens!
