2 days in Serbia at a camp with students and refugees from all over Yugoslavia that the Serbian government houses and feeds.

It was sunny one moment, then it dropped about 30 degrees and began to hail.

This is Milosh. He has a tremendous knowledge of independent films and is moving to Sweden to study film. Really brilliant guy and very kind. I hope he becomes a director. Here he is with my Hasselblad.

And my bed for a few days:

Serbia was really hurt by the war in the late 90’s. I have loved being there each chance I’ve had to visit, but I’m heartbroken by the state it is in. There are beautiful parts, to be sure. We were in the middle of the country between Nis and Belgrade.

The kids at the camp were fantastic and seemed to be having a great time. They have great leaders who really care about them.

Oh! My Lithuanian grandma used to wear babushkas too!
creative use of the flash with the kids. that is such a tough situation to photograph well. i think it worked well.
are you bouncing the light off the ceiling or is it pointed straight at them?
