18×28 print with 1″ border
Since a portion of my photography is done digitally, it is always incredibly satisfying to move images from the digital to the printed realm. I sometimes wonder if graphic designers who do a majority of their work on the web ever feel as though their work doesn’t actually exist, in a tangible sense. I do not mean to downplay their work by any means. I feel that way with digital photography.
My friend Stephen Dooley ordered this print.
Ivey Imaging, where I do all of my film and digital printing, is closing its doors on Monday. They have really done fantastic work for me, and I’m very sad to see them go.
For my job everything goes into print, but in my spare time I scan my drawings into photoshop and “paint” them. It makes me sad that they’re only digital…so eventually I have to print them out, but I still end up wishing that I painted more…so they would be more real.
While not a graphic designer, the majority of my work is on the web, and it’s something I’ve thought about often. If the Internet somehow “disappeared” suddenly, I would basically have no proof of having done any work over the past few years.
printing schminting.
just kidding.
I feel ya.
