“hey son.”
“hey dad. what’s up?”
“i saw on your site that you tied your sandals to your honda.”
“i did.”
“wow.”
“how proud are you of me right now?”
“wow.”
“hi. i’m your son! i’m surprised we haven’t met yet.”

I have a pair of Doc Martins that I bought when I was like 14. After nearly 10 years they are almost dead. I’ve gone from wearing them daily to wearing them maybe 3 or 4 times a year. I don’t know what I’ll do when they finally pass on but it will be a sad day.
there’s no need to throw away your good friends.
maybe they, too, can adorn your car or moped, assuming that you might possibly have a moped.
how awesome would doc martins look on the front of a vespa?
Doc Martins on the front of a vespa, huh? I don’t know… If I had a vespa (which would be SWEET), and I strapped the Doc Martins I too have owned for over 10 years, I think the vespa might fall over because my Doc Martin’s are pretty chunky…
I’m a keeper of the lo-cut Chuck Taylors… I just can’t seem to get rid of my Converse… Maybe some day, I’ll adorn something fun in nature with a pair of tattered chucks.
I think the Doc Martens (or Rainbows) would look absolutely fantastic on the front of a Segway. It would be a great marketing campaign. Also, the added benefit of the Segway is that should you choose to wear your beloved shoes rather than tying them to the front of the incredible human transporter, there would be less added wear-and-tear mileage on your soles.
(In reference to Tori) I too can’t part with my Chuck Taylors… i still have some from the early 90’s. Maybe we should start a support group? Although I wear the high-tops, so maybe that’d be a completely separate group?
Personally, it’s my Teva’s that might make the front of a Vespa (entirely possible here in Chiang Mai, a.k.a. “land of the Vespa”). They’ve been to Nepal (& assorted other cool countries) & back many times over the past decade. But the 3rd replacement of the velcro appears to have been the last. I finally gave in & got a new pair while in Penang, Malaysia.
I’d be a third for the “unable to part with Chucks” group. I have a shelf in my closet piled with them… for some reason, they’re all connected to memories.
